Welcome
My first memory of Christmas was being given a colouring in book and a tin of paints. I thought this was pure magic. I can remember my mum and dad standing watching me amazed that I could be so excited by such a simple gift. From then on a new tin of paints and a colouring in book were always on my Christmas list.
I was born in England and migrated to Australia when I was 21 years old. The Australian bush and Australian society are a constant source of inspiration in much of my work. I am essentially a colorist. I like to create strong, memorable images which hopefully appeal to a wide audience.
Whilst my work embraces an abstract quality it does not go so far from reality that it goes beyond the understanding and appreciation of a general audience. I work in all mediums: oil paintings, acrylic, watercolour paintings, collage, pencils, inks and pastels. I often mix these mediums to form mixed media images. My style is very fluid. My approach changes according to the subject matter, so there is much variation from one work to another.
I like to think that a viewer cannot look at my work and immediately say "That's a Susan Reynolds". I prefer to have variety and growth in my work so that there is always a surprise around the corner.
